What Is A Probiotic?

First off, if you haven’t heard of probiotics, they’re awesome. A probiotic is a substance that promotes bacteria growth (the good kind) and aids the digestive system. Yes, there are good bacteria!

In order to stay healthy, your gut needs a healthy balance of good and bad bacteria. If there is too much of either, your digestive system may experience negative side effects. Appropriate levels of both types of bacteria must be present.

How Do Probiotics Help Pets?

Can a complete gut health probiotic really help your cat's tummy? Believe it or not, there are special probiotic blends from Only Natural Pet that are designed specifically for your feline friend's digestive system. Find out how probiotics can help improve your cat's digestion and overall health. #cat #health #probiotics #product #digestion

Pets need the right balance of good and bad bacteria, just like we do. Complete gut health probiotics, like the one from Only Natural Pet, can help achieve this.

Certain digestive disorders can cause your cat or dog to have symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, and/or constipation. Probiotics help restore the digestive system’s natural balance. They can also improve your pet’s immune system, helping to thwart sickness and disease.

What Kind Of Probiotic Does Only Natural Pet’s Complete Gut Health Contain?

Several, in fact. Rather, there are several types of good bacteria and yeast.

Only Natural Pet describes their Complete Gut Health Probiotic as a “three pronged, effective blend… combining a unique, stable complex of digestive enzymes, probiotics and prebiotics…”. Wait, prebiotics? What are those?

Prebiotics are what probiotics feed off of. The live bacteria in probiotics need to eat, and prebiotics provide the food source. Prebiotics work in conjunction with probiotics to increase the amount of good bacteria in your digestive system.

Digestive enzymes are not living organisms like probiotics are. Rather, they are proteins that help break down foods into more easily digestible pieces. I take digestive enzymes myself, along with probiotics, and the benefits are amazing.

A Closer Look At The Ingredients List

The complete ingredients list is as follows:

Dried Aspergillus niger Fermentation Product, Inulin (Chicory Root Fiber), Flaxseed Meal, Dried Aspergillus oryzae Fermentation Product, Dried Bifidobacterium longum Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus plantarum Fermentation Product, Dried Bifidobacterium animalis Fermentation Product, Dried Lactobacillus acidophilus Fermentation Product, Yucca Schidigera Extract 4:1. Contains sources of Amylase, Lipase, Cellulase, and Protease which help hydrolyze starches, fats, cellulose, and proteins, respectively.”

I’m not going to bother to explain the complexities of ingredients like Dried Aspergillus niger Fermentation Product. It’s good stuff, and not harmful to your cat in the proper dosage. Chicory Root Fiber and Flaxseed Meal are both completely natural and beneficial (once again, only in the proper dosage).

However, it is well-known that the Yucca plant is poisonous, so why is it in this supplement? A lesser known fact about the Yucca plant is that its roots are safe to eat — just not the rest of the plant. According to Young Again Pet Food, Yucca Schidigera Extract “serves as a healthy ammonia binder” that reduces litter box odors.

Amylase, Lipase, Cellulase, and Protease are all digestive enzymes.

Our Review Of Only Natural Pet’s Complete Gut Health Probiotic

Now that you know what probiotics are, we can tell you what we thought about this product.

As mentioned above, Tippy has a few digestive issues. This may be due to a weakened immune system from her time at the animal shelter. It has been about a month since we started adding a scoop of the probiotic to her food, and she hasn’t puked once.

But What’s The Price?

The price for this supplement is $25.94 on Chewy. That may seem like a lot to spend on one supplement, but the serving size for one cat is only 1/4 of a teaspoon. At 3.5 powder ounces, that means there are 84 servings (that’s almost three months’ worth!). Each month will cost you only $9.26 a month per cat.

Does It Have A Taste?

There’s no taste, but it took Tippy awhile to get used to the texture. She is really sensitive to food additives; I could put one granule in her food and she would still be able to tell. Miss Prissy Pants finally learned to deal with it, and she eats her food no problem now.

The Final Verdict

We love it! In our opinion, this is an excellent supplement that any cat can benefit from. Whether you have a pukey cat or you just want to get a headstart on your cat’s gut health, Only Natural Pet’s Complete Gut Health Probiotic is a good investment.

We give this product 5 out of 5 meows!
