Married With Cats: Why Having A Romantic Partner Who Loves Cats Is Essential

Why is it important to have a romantic partner who loves cats?

A romantic partner who loves cats can be the greatest gift a cat lady/guy could ever ask for.

Instead of going through the headache of trying to convince your S.O. that they should like cats, why not go with someone who’s already a cat-lover? There are many benefits to this arrangement, and life gets just that little bit easier.

Benefit #1: They’ll Love Your Cats Just As Much As You Do

Well, maybe… maybe not… but you know a romantic partner who loves cats will love yours as well! Do you really think your cat is going to complain about having two times the love? They’ll be basking in the glory of four-handed head scratches, and you’ll be bonding with both your S.O. and your cat.

Benefit #2: Co-Parenting

You’re a team in your relationship, and you can be a team with raising your fur baby. Not only is this a great way to bond as a family, but you can also share responsibilities such as:

Benefit #3: Financial Support

If you have a partner that wants to help out with cat care expenses, that’s wonderful! Not all partners will be okay with this arrangement, but those that are will find the financial burden of raising a pet to be much more manageable if it’s between two people. If you can cut your cat bills in half, what’s not to love?

Plus, you’ll both be investing in your cat’s (or cats’) health and wellness. It’s a really good feeling!

That being said, don’t get butthurt if your partner doesn’t want to pay for your cat. He/she is your cat, and therefore your responsibility!

Benefit #4: They Might Have Their Own Cat(s)

A romantic partner who loves cats will probably bring a couple of their own furbabies to the table. I’m happy to say that my husband has two of his own cats that have joined our little family. We now have four cats, and I couldn’t be happier!

A warning, however. It can be difficult to integrate two cat families. Cats don’t always understand that they have siblings now, and that they have to play nice. You can check out our blog post about calming a jealous cat for some tips on this matter.

Agreed and perhaps a belated congrats! I think #3 is more relevant than ever these days with increased food prices.

    1. Thank you! And yes, food costs are getting so bad, it’s a group effort in families to provide.
