Our New Year’s Resolutions For 2018 (Giving Up Coffee Is Not One Of Them…)

The Meow Place is all ready for the New Year, and we've come up with five New Year's resolutions that we intend to stick to! Keep reading to find out what we've got planned for the blog this coming year.

New Year’s resolutions don’t last very long for most people, but we’re su-purr serious about these ones!

I’m not in the habit of making New Year’s resolutions, and neither are my siblings. It seems like it’s an exercise in futility. You make resolutions, follow them for about a week (a month if you’re lucky), and then you forget all about them. Not this time! Here are our top five New Year’s resolutions that we promise to follow.

#1 – Be More Social

I’ve let The Meow Place’s Instagram page sort of fall to the wayside. It didn’t seem to generate much traffic to this site, so I thought, “What’s the point?”. After some careful mind-brewing, I realize that what’s most important to me are the relationships I form on there, not page views! Expect more regular posting in the New Year.

Speaking of social media, do check out our other social media channels:

#2 – Blog More Often

This is a tough one because I agonize over every blog post. If it’s not perfect, I procrastinate until the topic becomes irrelevant. That’s definitely what happened to our Christmas gift list post for 2017. Another factor has been the holiday season and missing my dad. Christmas is tough when you’ve lost a parent. I’m resolving to not be such a perfectionist and give myself some slack in order to blog more effectively and frequently!

#3 – Be Active

If you don’t take care of yourself, you can’t take care of others (including your cats!). I’m a very skinny thing, so I’ve never felt a pressing urge to exercise or stay physically active for my health. Boy, was I wrong! I’ll be 30 years old this summer, and since I can feel my bones start to creak a bit (okay, not creak), I’m getting into a regular exercise routine.

#4 – Speak Up

There are causes about which I am infinitely passionate, but my anxiety sometimes silences me. Actually, it often does. This coming year, I’m going to make it my mission to use my voice on issues I’m concerned about in the animal community. It’s time to come out of my shell!

#5 – Be More Personal

Instead of hiding my face away on my bio page that no one ever visits, I’m revamping the blog with a new look – a more personal one. I sometimes come off as business-like rather than an actual human being, and I want to change that. My readers should know who I am, and that includes knowing my face. Ugh, if only I weren’t camera-shy.

Solid list. I’ve had the last nearly 2 weeks off this year and it’s quite illuminating to realize how bad my work has been for my health. It’s the stress. So time for a new career direction (late 30’s) but I thank God I’m in a position financially that I can do schooling if necessary without taking out a loan. Other than that, I’d like to volunteer to help with some cat shelters and stay away from some vices.. which work stress had me repeat in 2017 over and over.

    1. I hear ya! Work stress can be so detrimental to a person’s health. Above all, please take care of yourself. Your job isn’t worth your health and well-being.

    1. Happy New Year to you guys as well! Are you doing anything fun this coming year?

  2. Happy New Year! Don’t be so hard on yourself, seriously! We don’t do “resolutions” we do “intentions” resolutions are way too harsh in our opinion and set one up for failure.

    1. I know, but I’m one of those people that’s way, way too hard on myself. Like, I’m seriously competitive and perfectionistic. I’ll try to go easier on myself! And Happy New Year!
