After losing her cat C.C. and her father to cancer, Margaret was able to heal thanks to two lovable step-siblings, Izzy and Bubs. Read their love story by clicking the picture. | www.themeowplace.com | #catfeature #catoftheweek #cats #cancer

These sweet shelter cats were able to heal their mom’s broken heart with purrs, cuddles and love.

This week’s Frisky Feline Feature is very close to our hearts. After losing our father to cancer, we depended on the love and comfort Misha and Tippy provided (fake scientific fact: head boops have healing powers). Because of Izzy and Bubs’ companionship, Margaret was able to find the comfort she so desperately needed in her time of sorrow.

A rare still shot of Bubs. His fur mama Margaret refers to him as “a constant motion machine”.

Thank you again, Margaret, for letting us feature Izzy and Bubs. They’re real sweethearts! How did you three find each other?

Izzy and Bubs both were adopted from my local humane society. At the beginning of September last year, I lost both my dad and my kitty C.C. to cancer. Needless to say, I was super sad, and the only that made me feel better was going to look kittens.

I wasn’t sure I was ready for a kitten but little Bubs was there two weeks in a row when I went to look. He would sit up on my shoulder like a parrot and just loved to be held. Izzy was from a different litter and super outgoing and social. They came home On October 1 and 2 last year, and we all started to get to know each other.

Izzy can sleep just about anywhere. She loves taking naps!

Coping with those losses must have been hard, but it sounds like you three were meant to be! How did the first few weeks go? Did Izzy and Bubs warm up to each other?

About a week after they came home they both got sick! Izzy was running a fever and having trouble swallowing and Bubs started pooping blood. I was terrified I was going to lose both of them but a couple trips to the vet later their healthy.

Bubs does have a mild case of feline asthma, so occasionally he has horrible coughing fits that just break my heart. Izzy gets really worried when this happens and starts licking his forehead. They really have become best friends.

Everyone enjoys a nap by the light of a Christmas tree after a hard day playing.

Thank goodness they got better. It’s scary when our fur babies get sick, but we’re glad they’re back to their happy and healthy selves. What is life with Izzy and Bubs like?

They both spend their days watching the world go by from various windows. They go back and forth from one window to the next all day. Bubs only sleeps about 6 hours a day, so our house can get pretty busy. Izzy’s a total sleeper and she loves sun, an open window and a warm breeze.

Bubs constantly needs new toys to stay occupied. Their absolute favorite toy is a wool snake that I’ve bought about 10 of because they only last a few weeks. They love this toy so much that it frequently ends up in bed with us.

Last but not least – Bubs is a nickname. Bubs’ name is actually Baxter (or Bax, as I frequently call him). Bubs came from me constantly asking Izzy were her Bubbie was when they were little kittens because he was constantly running around the house!

The life of a fur mama is a busy one, and from what we hear, these two keep you constantly occupied! Thank you again for letting us feature you, and we wish you all a very happy holiday.
